HONOLULU — Data released on Wednesday by the state Department of Health showed 65 new COVID-19 cases on Kaua‘i from Dec. 6 to Dec. 12, and 1,191 new cases statewide.
HONOLULU — Data released on Wednesday by the state Department of Health showed 65 new COVID-19 cases on Kaua‘i from Dec. 6 to Dec. 12, and 1,191 new cases statewide.
Kaua‘i’s seven-day COVID-19 case average increased slightly last week to nine cases a day, compared with six cases a day the prior week.
The test positivity rate on Kaua‘i was 9.1 percent, compared with 6.4 percent statewide.
Four new COVID-19 deaths were reported statewide in the last seven days.
In global pandemic news, China announced last week that it would be loosening its strict “Zero-COVID” policy after protests opposing the restrictions began in several cities. Cases have risen rapidly since the restrictions were eased, according to China’s government-supplied figures.
In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, COVID testing will be closed at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall and Hanalei Neighborhood Center on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
