Happy Holidays, Mizzou! Gift-giving season is upon us! While gifting can be fun, it also can be stressful, especially if you don’t know what to buy for your loved ones. Buying gifts for fashion-loving family and friends can be even more difficult, especially when you’re not super fashion-forward yourself. Don’t fear, a fashion student is here to help you find the best stylish gifts for all of the fashion lovers in your life.
There are a myriad of trendy fashion items this holiday season; however, two items have been especially tweeted, posted and blogged about. First is the Acne Studios scarf . This wool and colorful scarf has been the must-have of the season. If you don’t want to spend a fortune on this microtrend, there are plenty of affordable dupes for this scarf on Amazon and Urban Outfitters. Another super trendy piece is the Ugg Tasman slipper, a comfy and practical slipper that’s perfect for both the cold Missouri weather and lounging around.
If you have a person in your life who loves all things classic and neutral, a Gap turtleneck is the perfect choice. They come in a multitude of earthy colors and are insanely soft. If this fashion lover leans more into the “Coastal Grandmother” side of class fashion, try a white and navy striped sweater. Nordstrom, Everlane and Gap all have amazing sweaters with a wide price range.
If you know someone who’d rather make their own clothes than go shopping, get them a SENTRO knitting machine! This affordable knitting machine allows the user to make beanies, scarves and even sweaters. It’s also very easy to pick up and is great for beginners.
Lugged shoes and chunky black shoes are always a good guess for s0meone leaning more on the alternative fashion side. Doc Martens are always a great place to get all types of chunky shoes and boots. ASOS is a more affordable option to find many different types of shoes. If this fashion lover enjoys expressing themselves through jewelry, use Etsy to find one-of-a-kind, edgy necklaces. One store I recommend is AshleyLaneJewels Etsy; it sells a multitude of beaded handmade jewelry that is perfect for the alternative fashion lover in your life!
I would recommend wrapped crystal necklaces for the boho friend in your life. Etsy is a great resource for these types of necklaces, as they use actual crystals in their necklaces — not the dyed plastic found in many stores. If your boho fashion lover is interested in the more spiritual aspects of crystals but doesn’t know where to start, I recommend buying them a crystal safe for beginners, such as rose quartz and amethyst. I would also gift them a book or guide on the properties of their crystal, as this could spark their interest in the topic!
These options should allow you to find great, personalized gifts for different types of fashion lovers in your life! Make sure to shop smart, and remember, the best gifts come from the heart. Happy Holidays, Mizzou!
