The ministry reported 1,527 cases in its previous weekly update. Moreover, some 17,200 tests were performed in the past week, 15.4 percent of which were positive cases.
This institution explained that the rising cases are due to the transmission capacity of the Omicron variant.
There were five deaths during this period, and the number of beds occupied by Covid-19 patients in intensive care units also grew.
The MSP reported that the increase in cases does not bring about a significant change in public health and current variants are not worrisome.
However, it urged the population to get vaccinated and take non-pharmacological measures that are still extremely useful to control the transmission of this disease.
It also recalled the importance of ventilating places, wearing facemasks and visit the doctor when patients show symptoms.
